About this work

The mountain stands. The light sets the rhythm.

From morning to evening, every hour casts a different shadow across the same surface. The contours are fixed. The experience is not. Not as an effect, but as a quality of the wood itself.

Wood has the calm of stone, yet it breathes. Its fibres carry energy. The moment the work is on the wall, you feel it. That presence spreads through the room, and into the people who live there.

No technique creates this. It is the character of the wood itself, heightened by the design and the play of lines.

The Mountain is released in an edition of twenty-five. Each piece is numbered, signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

The Japanese call it shinrin-yoku: the effect of the forest on the skin, the lungs, the mind. The Celts spoke of the breath of life within every trunk. Modern acoustics can measure it: layered wooden structures soften echo and give a room a gentler sound.
