Foss means waterfall in Icelandic. You make three objects of around thirty-three centimetres in solid walnut or oak: the droplet shape Dropi and the stone shape Steinn. Each object gets a layered relief that catches the light differently through the day.
You decide how they go on the wall. The objects hang on a magnetic system at two mounting depths, so real depth appears, as though they slide over one another. You turn and shift them whenever you like, until the composition feels right. Later you add a single object and the landscape grows with you.
You choose your wood and your shapes. Walnut is warm and deep in colour, oak light and lively in grain.
You draw your lines, saw and sand. The atelier tools are ready and I stay beside you the whole time.
The protective layer on, the magnets in, and then we toast. You take your work home the same day.
Three separate objects, your composition. Add more later and the wall keeps growing.
